The capital city of India is all set to get its first monorail by 2017 as Delhi government gave it an approval today. Delhi urban development minister AK Walia said that ” The monorail which is another environment-friendly mode of transportation will run in the city. It is a big project and will cost Rs 1,665 crore”. The first phase of rail will start in east Delhi and will be of 10.8 km stretch and have 12 stations. It will connect shastri park metro to propsed Trilokpuri metro station. The approval to hte project was given by CM Shiela Dikshit which was presided by her. Monorail project is also a part of the Master plan of Delhi 2012.
